Excellent food. The waitress was exceptionally efficient.

Level of cleanliness was very poor. Bedroom was cold. The whole place felt as though it had been neglected.

The food and attitude of the staff were good and the cleanliness of the room was good for two of the three nights. I don't think the room service problem was typical.

The room was not serviced on the day before my last night. I had already paid the bill because I was leaving at 6:30 next morning. When I got to my room the towels had not been changed but were lying on the bedroom floor at the foot of the bed. I used the same towels next morning. The bed was as I had left it. There were no coffee sachets.

The staff were very friendly giving a very relaxed atmosphere.

The decor seemed a little bit dated

Nothing. The hotel was dreary, dirty, customer service in the restaurant of low standard. No offer to carry any luggage. I registered my dissatisfaction during my stay and again at departure. I requested my room be changed which is was and the only positive was the new young lad who helped me swap rooms. No offer at checkout of any compensation of any kind was offered even though they clearly were aware of my overall satisfaction. The annex/stable block where my initial room was is obviously used as a spill over when the hotel is full. This is of extremely low standard both in facilities and cleanliness and needs a complete redecoration to bring it up to satndard. An appalling experience and I shan't ever stay or recommend the hotel again.

See above. Nothing at all. It has potential however with the current managements obviously reciting everything from a standard policy and procedures book , this won't happen. It is tired, the restaurant clearly has students of staff that are not adequately trained in the industry. No interest in their job apart from 'it;s a job' attitude. For a hotel to exist purely on it's location alone is an insult to all those out of city or town hotels that work hard to attract cutomers and maintain their well deserved plave in the industry. It is advertised clearly as 3 star however does not even come close. A dreary, oppressive atmosphere, dull food, and appalling rooms and standards throughout. An insult to all those that work hard in this industry to make it an attractive proposition for up and coming hopefuls wishing to enter the industry.

We mentioned it at the time of leaving; the staff were all so seemingly happy. They were willing to do little extras to make our stay nice and even the man in the car park was cheerfully friendly when we explained we needed to stay parked there for 30 more minutes after we had booked out to pop to the post office. The lad in the bar went out of his way one evening to advise us there was room in the restaurant without needing to book and the staff in the restaurant all took great pains to ensure we were happy with our meals. We liked the fact that there is history to the place with information to read about it in the dining room. The room was well presented with the necessary facilities. We like to visit family nearby and some interesting sight seeing venues and will come again as it is a reasonably priced, no frills place to stay, with a nice ambience.

We thought our room (Rm 3) was quite poky. We have stayed at the Manor before for a short break and didn't remember having such a small room. It was a double room but only had room for one chair. We didn't like the very dim 'night lights' that were the bedside lamps as we couldn't read in bed using them. A corridor door banged as people went through near our room which was a bit disturbing early in the morning. These are not 'complaints' as we would have said something at the time to the management if we felt we wanted to complain. They are, however, observations (and you did ask!) and we will make sure we don't get Room 3 again next time!

The staff were lovely. The room was very small with no ventilation and consequently very hot. Only one bedside light. The food was hearty but lacked a certain finesse. Breakfast had an excellent selection - would improve if the milk for the coffee was hot and the croissants were heated to order. A lick of paint would not come amiss but definitely value for money.

The manor itself is beautiful. I stayed in the barn conversion at the back and although the room is clean and suitable I dont find it compliments the manor! Friendly staff.

I ordered continental breakfast for two to the room at 8am and it was on time although only for one person. On checking out I was asked if I had enjoyed my stay and so I explained my order was incorrect and although an apology was made that was it?? No offer of a refund for this missing breakfast or a decent explnation. Surely the kitchen should of asked the question if not sure or in doubt rather than assume.

We only stayed one night to attend a show at the Octagon Theatre. The room was small but the staff were very pleasant, the breakfast was excellent and the there was a good atmosphere. On the whole the hotel was very good value for the price

      • Older travelers

Good standard of food and good value for money. Run down in places, but plenty of character and charm if you look past the peeling paint and run down nature of some areas.

We always enjoy our stay at Manor Hotel . Staff most helpful, and efficient., Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

      • Couple
        7.4

The room was clean and tidy and comfortable however, I thought the room was a little on the small side for the price, a Travel Lodge or equivalent is normally bigger.

      • Older travelers
        8.4

The Food was excellent. Especially nice was the opportunity to have small helpings of first class cuisine at reasonable prices.

      • Older travelers
        7.4

Food and drink prices were very reasonable.

The exterior of the main hotel block was in poor condition with rotting window frames and gave a negative appearance but I appreciate that this is beyond the control of the hotel management.
